We left from the house as that is where we ended our walk the other day. We walked out of Caribou and into the beautiful country. Northern Maine is amazing. We saw signs of moose but didn’t see one. We did see some deer though. The farms were amazing. Rolling hills of potatoes or high grass with well kept barns and homes.
We had an easy day of walking with clouds blocking the hot sun. Hills were a challenge but we are accustomed to them at this point. Jessie was suffering though. Her feet keep getting blisters. She pushed on though.
We met a farmer who invited us up to his home for sandwiches. We gladly accepted the offer and headed up to sit at a picnic table that he had outside in his driveway. He has 6 kids that he looks after. Grandkids and adopted children. They were a true joy for us to meet. They had very little money but could care less about it. They had lots of land to work on and play on. They loved it. Their quality of life carried on into our hearts as we laughed and laughed with them over lunch.
We walked on and found a good place to call it a day. We called Kate and Kevin from the Bed and Breakfast and they came and picked us up to stay for one more night. Absoultely amazing people and a HUGE help to our mission.
Been following you since Salem and amazed to see you are knocking on the door of Ft. Kent! So glad you ran into so many helpful folks in Maine to get you over those difficult last miles. Two more days do you think? Jim McAllister
