Day 32 – 0 miles – 432 total

Today is my sister’s birthday. We were lucky enough to have been gifted with a hotel room in Daytona where we could spend the whole day relaxing. Me, Stick, and Domino all needed it.

I slept in (still awake in time to watch the sunrise) and then we had complimentary breakfast at the hotel. We then took some personal time and I walked out to the beach and found a stick to write a birthday message for my sister in the sand. Then I went up to a spot where I could sit and make a live facebook video. I started talking about Brittany and was tearing up and must have looked insane to people passing by. I didn’t care.

One person did though. An 18 year old homeless kid came and asked me if I was ok and wanted to talk. I was ok but I still wanted to talk. He was saying that he has had a lot of friends and family die by suicide and wanted to make sure that I wasn’t going that route. I ensured him that I was safe from harming myself or others and told him I was just grieving. We talked for a good hour about a lot of really good things. This young man had a lot going for him. He told me that he was going to join the Army. I told him that he should walk across America first lol. I thanked him for his compassion and we went separate ways. Skylar was sent to me by my sister. I could feel it.

I was emotionally exhausted after all that and went back up to the room for a nap. I woke up when Stick told me that Shea, our film director, had someone that she wanted me to meet. Stick and I walked outside to meet them and it was another birthday blessing. Mikey was 2 weeks off of heroin and meth and had came down to Florida to try to get his life together. He looked like he really wanted help. We gave him some really good options and offered to let him walk with us tomorrow. I really really hope that he will come do that. It’s up to him to make that first step though. We are anxiously waiting to hear from him.

We did some interviews at sunset and then went to dinner and I was asleep by 9 pm. A wild and powerful day off. Happy birthday Brittany.

A very rough day for sure. I would have spent it the same way. I hope the young man you met today does show up for the walk. You sure can give him some straight advice. Nothing more reliable than “A voice of experience “. Forward March!❤️👣👣🐾🐾🙏🏻
