We finally gave ourselves an off day. We went to a laundromat first and while washing clothes we cleaned and organized the trailer. Then we went to a truck stop to take a shower. Then we went to eat.
Nice and fresh and full and shortly after a couple came to meet us. Michael and Natalie. They drove from about an hour away to come and help us out. Natalie has lost her brother Kevin. She has also lost her uncle and aunt. All to substance related passings. I was very proud of her for coming. We talked for a while and then they took me and Stick out for a late lunch.
Another friend of mine showed up with his Uncle Bill. I know Max from my last walk. He came and walked like 19 miles with me outside of Sacramento one day on my last walk. We had a blast and I stayed with him at his brother’s house that night. It was really good to see him again. We got to talking like old friends and when I told him that I was planning on camping at a walmart tonight he went and booked a hotel room for us next door right then and there. Amazing.
We all hung out together for a long time but then Max and his uncle had to go. Then Michael and Natalie took us over to a park where you can see the space station out in the distance. We hung out here for a few minutes and then the documentary crew came and found us. The film crew left a few weeks ago and will now be back with us for the next 6 days. Shea, Caitlyn, and Jackie (spelling may be off) are super cool and I was glad to see them again.
They came ready to get footage right away. They got shots of all of us talking to each other and then they interviewed Natalie about her story. Natalie gave me a picture of her brother Kevin to come with us as we continue our journey. I was truly honored to have him aboard. I was very thankful to have met them.
The highlight of the day was when an older gentleman wearing the most ridiculous old man outfit imaginable came up and kept getting in the way of the camera. He had the grossest and weirdest shorts on pulled up over his belly button with his balls hanging out the bottom. His glasses looked like they were made in the 70s and one lens had tint on it and one didn’t. I feel like we may have been pranked by Johnny Knoxville. This guy was too good to be true. So of course I spent as long as I could talking to him.
He claimed to be a rocket scientist that worked on a rocket that made it all the way to Pluto. He also told me that the Indian River was full of crap. Literally crap. He told me the exact amount of ceptic lines that were being dumped into the river. I never wanted the conversation to end. This man was amazing. Unfortunately, we had camera stuff to do so I was rushed to go back to the hotel.
We shot more interviews there and got all that stuff out of the way. Looking forward to getting back to walking tomorrow. We have 22 miles planned and it is going to be hot.
Finally! I have been waiting to hear what you’ve been up to.
I willl message you my thoughts.
Have a good film day. Make sure your makeup artist keeps the sweat off your brow. 😃😃😂😂😂
Need to talk.
