Day 148 – 19 miles – 1,915 total

We drove to our starting point in New London and packed up our carts while talking to a homeless man who we met the other day. He was back out there and hung out while we got ready. I had a bunch of snacks that I wasn’t going to eat in our car so I gave them to him. Then we got started.

It was very foggy and gray. Much like the real London. We crossed the Thames River and kept seeing signs like Windsor Motel and Chelsea Manor. It was very Englandy. Reminded me of my trip I took there a few years ago, although we got lucky and actually had sunny weather in London.

Anyway, we had lots of hills today and we were walking along a busy backroad. Not too many people stopped. A few did and they were all great. One young couple was very affected by the crisis and thanked us.

The fog cleared but it stayed cool. We made it pretty easily to our destination. We were originally planning on camping out at the truck stop right before the Rhode Island state line. We checked the weather and threats of a storm were coming in. A motel was right there so we decided to just go ahead and spend the money to stay dry.

The guy in the hotel is in recovery and gave us a decent discount. Then we went back to the truck stop for dinner. That was that.

Another day down.
