Day 61 – 0 miles – 829 total

This morning we woke up and headed to Fox24 news station in Charleston. Stick and I had an in-studio interview scheduled. We were there with some others who were on the same show that we were on and we all waited in the same room. One of the guys had dreadlocks down to his knees. Past his knees. He introduced himself as Big Hair. Fitting. He was there to promote an event this weekend called the Marley Cup. Raggae music and soccer essentially. It seemed really cool.

I noticed one of the sponsors of the event was the Charleston Hemp Company so I asked him about that. He said that company is working with the local hospital to research using CBD oils for pain treatments as an alternative to opioids. He broke it down for me and explained that these treatments were safe to use on children and the effects are not intoxicating. Sounded great to me. I’ve heard of this research before and I have found mostly positive reviews from it.

Anyways, he gave us tickets to the festival and we plan on going to talk to the crowd about our mission. Could be fun!

We went into the studio and did the interview together. It went well and they are supposed to air it later in the day but we wouldn’t see it because we had to leave town.

We headed back to my dad’s house to pack up and grab Domino then headed towards Atlanta. I wanted to see my family before I got to a point where it will be too far to drive. Especially my daughter. We drove for 5 hours to my mom’s house.

My brother and his family were there and making dinner for us. They just had a newborn baby that I hadn’t seen yet so I was very excited to meet Eliza. My daughter, Brooke, was totally surprised that I was there. It was a great night from then on.

My mom, stepdad, stepsister, daughter, brother, sister-in-law and their 2 babies. They were all very happy to meet Stick also. We had a great time. I fell asleep reading bedtime stories with Brooke.
