Day 57 – 0 miles – 769 total

We woke up knowing that we would be taking today off to spend with family. If there is anything worth taking a day off for, it’s family.

I slept in when I woke up my stepmom Paula was making us some breakfast. We ate and then me and Stick organized our support car. We were able to downsize everything we needed and leave the trailer at my dad’s house. So now it will be easier to get our support car around.

About the time we finished that, Stick’s family arrived and we took the golf cart down to the beach and played for at least an hour. His grandkids braved out the cold and got chest deep in the Atlantic. We got back and hung around some more and then they had to get back on the road to Missouri. Stick was the happiest I’d ever seen him when they were here. That was so cool of them to do!

My dad took me, my brother Cameron, and Stick on a golf cart ride in the evening. We went down to the marina and saw all of the boats and then rolled past a few of the local hangouts and through neighborhoods. Then onto a golf course on the intercoastal waterway.

We had some clubs and a few golf balls on the golf cart so we hit a few while the sun was going down. No competition or anything like that. Just having fun with no expectations of getting the ball anywhere near the hole. It was great.

The tide was out so we decided to go and search for old golf balls to replenish my dad’s stash that we just knocked all over South Carolina. It was crazy. Like an easter egg hunt for adults. Between 3 people we found over 200 golf balls in about 20 minutes.

We came back and ate a smoked boston butt that had been on the grill all day and some mac and cheese that was so good it should be illegal. We filled up and watched march madness as we all planned out the logistics for tomorrow.

Great day, lots of fun and lots of love.
