Day 37 – 15 miles – 533 total

We got to camp less than 50 yards from the ocean so we could hear the waves crashing all night. It was awesome. There was nothing around for miles so you could see a lot of stars at night. It was really cold though.

The cold air was crisp and not humid like we’ve been experiencing since the beginning of the walk. That was refreshing but it took a whole lot of layers to keep warm.

It was a very pleasant walk. There was nothing but nature all around as we walked through a nature preserve. The beach was beautiful and no one was around. I felt like I was in western Utah and not Florida.

After a few hours, we came back into civilization. It was bittersweet as we liked the solitude but also like the idea of fast food haha. We stopped at a McDonalds and made a scene when we pulled up with our carts. People were asking all about our walk and our mission.

Later on, a woman pulled over and proudly announced that she had 12 years in recovery. She was so helpful in gathering information on our mission and sharing it with her network. I wished we could’ve talked longer but we both had places to go in different directions.

We fought through the wind all day and finally made it to my sister’s apartment in Jacksonville Beach. Lauren and Ryan are awesome and were very welcoming to us. Stick went right to work on repairs to his cart and I went to a $5 yoga class with Lauren and Ryan. If was intense but exactly what my body needed after over 500 miles of walking.

We got back and listened to music and had dinner together. We have plans to take tomorrow off so that we can run some errands and also to relax.

Great day!
