We were on the road by 6:30 am. It was a beautiful morning. We walked nearly 9 miles without even feeling it. We had to make ourselves stop and eat because we knew we needed the fuel to get through the whole day.
Backroads were available to us so we opted for them. It’s less exposure but it’s safer and really pleasant walking. We got to walk by a lot of farms. We saw tons of animals. We got away from the highway noise so we were able to hear the sounds of the natural world.
We got to our 400 mile mark today and stopped to celebrate it. Some neighbors came out to see what was going on and we got to breifly talk to them about it. They were all supportive.
We finished up at 23 miles and were pretty beat. Thankfully we had an offer for a place to stay from a really nice guy named Tommy. He cooked steak and shrimp for us and we got to swap stories about how his community have been affected by drugs. We stayed up late and made a fire. It was a great night but Stick and I were really tired and had no choice but to cut the night short.
That was nice of Tommy to do that. On to the next stop. I think I read that you and John would have a couple of days rest.
You certainly could use that. Goodnight. ❤️👟👟👣👣🐾🐾
